Seachem Prime ® is a highly concentrated and comprehensive water conditioner designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums. It is specifically formulated to remove harmful substances such as ammonia, chlorine, and chloramine from the water, ensuring a safe environment for aquatic life. It is up to five times more concentrated than competing products, making it one of the most efficient dechlorinators available, second only to Seachem’s own Aquavitro Alpha™. This high concentration means that a small amount of Prime® goes a long way; for example, a 100 ml bottle is sufficient to treat up to 4000 liters of water. This makes it not only effective but also economical for aquarium hobbyists. Seachem Prime ® is versatile in its applications. It can be used during aquarium setup, water changes, and even in emergencies to detoxify nitrite. It is also safe to use in conjunction with other Seachem products like StressGuard™ and Stability®, which are recommended when transporting or introducing new fish to the aquarium. To use Prime®, add 1 capful (5 mL) for every 200 litres (50 US gallons) of new water. For smaller volumes, each cap thread is approximately 1 mL. While Prime® can be added directly to the aquarium, it is more effective when mixed with new water before adding it to the tank. In cases of exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. In emergencies, such as nitrite spikes, up to five times the normal dose can be administered. If the water temperature exceeds 30°C (86°F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, it is recommended to use a half dose.
